1/2/2014 In Bedford County, Tennessee

Well we have developed a Southerly Wind that is also ushering in clouds and while Wednesday was a decent early January day change is just over the horizon. Our strong Barometer will be falling and by Mid Morning Thursday I'm expecting Rain and falling Temperatures. Some light Snow possible especially in higher elevations. Here in Unionville at 750 feet above sea level it doesn't look to Snowy until later in the day as temperatures will be dropping dramatically. Moisture will be moving away however and Friday will be cold and maybe 32 deg. and a Northwest 15 mph wind so bundle up.

This is from the NWS guys:

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
338 PM CST WED JAN 1 2014

A COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE LATE WEDNESDAY
NIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING, BRINGING WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION TO
THE MID STATE ALONG WITH CONSIDERABLY COLDER TEMPERATURES. THERE
WILL BE ENOUGH MOISTURE BEHIND THE FRONT TO PRODUCE SOME SNOW, AND
WITH TEMPERATURES DROPPING THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON THURSDAY, MUCH OF
THIS PRECIPITATION WILL FALL AS SNOW, OR A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND
SNOW.

LOCATIONS AROUND LAWRENCEBURG, PULASKI, COLUMBIA, AND FRANKLIN
WILL LIKELY ONLY SEE A DUSTING OF SNOW, AS TEMPERATURES WILL BE
TOO WARM FOR ANY APPRECIABLE ACCUMULATION. FARTHER NORTH AND EAST,
AROUND CAMDEN, DICKSON, CLARKSVILLE, LEBANON, MURFREESBORO, AND
MCMINNVILLE, SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO ONE-HALF INCH ARE
POSSIBLE ON THURSDAY.

PLACES ALONG THE HIGHLAND RIM AND THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU,
INCLUDING PORTLAND, LAFAYETTE, JAMESTOWN, CROSSVILLE, AND
LIVINGSTON, COULD SEE UP TO AN INCH OF SNOW BEFORE IT ENDS
THURSDAY EVENING.

BY FRIDAY MORNING, TEMPERATURES WILL BOTTOM OUT IN THE TEENS
ACROSS ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE AS AN ARCTIC AIR MASS SPREADS OVER
THE REGION.

  • Thursday Rain before noon, then a slight chance of rain and snow. Temperature falling to around 31 by 5pm. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northwest 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
  • Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. North northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
  • Friday Sunny, with a high near 32. North wind 5 to 15 mph becoming east northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
  • Friday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 21. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph after midnight.
After a tranquil weekend Sunday Night and Monday we have a stronger system coming thru that could see us get some measurable Snow. So we got that to keep a eye on.

     Ya"ll stay safe.
